The primary responsibility of the Mechanical Design Engineer II is the design, development, testing and documentation of precision mechanical, pneumatic and temperature components of Mensor products. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure product performance, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards Key Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) for new and existing products. Conduct prototype builds and testing to validate design performance and reliability. Generate and maintain detailed engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, and specifications Perform tolerance analysis and apply GD&T principles per ASME Y14.5 standards Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure DFM and DFA principles are applied. Confirms part strength using finite element analysis Uses failure mode effects analysis to reduce project risk Estimates resource requirements to complete mechanical designs. Keeps track of time and material costs spent on projects. Evaluate supplier components and support sourcing decisions. Participates in and holds design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. Trains and mentor’s junior mechanical engineers. Reviews the work of other mechanical engineers across projects. Works with production engineers to ensure products are producible. Works with the machine shop to ensure efficient manufacturing. Works with customer service to ensure products are serviceable. Works with customers to increase market knowledge and solve problems. Supports, maintains, and participates in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives. Supports the corporate and departmental goals. Maintains a current understanding of mechanical technology useful for Mensor products. Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Engineering. Conduct IP audits and risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities or exposure.
