The role of the Test Engineer is to take ownership in the development of testing processes for WIKA Optical Sensing products and support product development test activities, ensuring that developed parts are fit for purpose (meet specification requirements) and all evidential data to support specification claims is stored in controlled & accessible manner. This will include selection and use of appropriate software and hardware tools to support testing activities and, where not available “off the shelf”, support the development of such tools. Produce test process documentation to ensure effective hand over of test processes to operations department and continual improvement of development testing resources. This should include explicit documentation for the use of regular company test tools that may be shared between various development activities. Take ownership and responsibility of relevant engineering changes to test processes, hardware and software tools. This should include appropriate design and control records with sufficient verification of change & evidence to support the change. The Test Engineer may also take responsibility to regularly check test equipment and WIKA Optical Sensing manufacturing/production tools so that they are maintained and kept in calibration. This should cover most tools/equipment used for automation, data output and/or input & test process control equipment. Ensuring design requirement specification is translated into manageable test plan to ensure adequate product design verification and validation in line with WIKA Optical Sensing QMS requirements for product testing during project/product development stages. With assistance from engineering team develop hardware test solutions for manual, semi-automated & automated tests of WIKA Optical Sensing prototypes and products. With limited support of the engineering team develop software (LabView, Python, R) test solutions for semi-automated and automated test of WIKA Optical Sensing prototypes and products. Making sure internal WIKA Optical Sensing test capabilities & resources are adequate for planned tests & where not possible substantiated with external testing. WIKA Optical Sensing test equipment and software maintenance and calibration, operations team support for maintenance and calibration where appropriate. Make sure test processes are aligned with client requirements, internal requirements and regulatory requirements where relevant (incl. national and international standards) Produce relevant supporting manufacturing documentation (Work Instructions, Travellers, WO routing, etc.) Produce high quality test data and organise test data storage accordingly. Manage Engineering Change Request (ECR) process, ensuring robust configuration change control with regards to test hardware, software and documentation. Be proficient in using computer software tools used for regular testing of WIKA Optical Sensing products & components, manage software tools in line with WIKA Optical Sensing QMS. Support development, manufacture, and commissioning of tooling for test rigs for regular and customised testing within WIKA Optical Sensing. Ensure workplace safety via supporting and conducting Risk Assessments (RA) incl. material safety (COSHH) where appropriate. Prioritise and complete tasks in accordance with commitments to support business and customer expectations. Work in accordance with the WIKA Optical Sensing Ltd. Quality Management System. Be able to work independently in delivery of test engineering tasks, as defined above. Independently produce test engineering outputs (commissioning reports, test reports, etc.) Act as Subject Matter Expert, in some areas of test engineering within WIKA Optical Sensing organisation context.
