BASIC PURPOSE: This position provides support to multiple production areas as determined by business needs. The manufacturing Technician will fill in for absent Welders and Water Spiders in different production cells. Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB: Ensures smooth production operation during shift by interpreting MRP information and planning schedules to stage, load and unload finished products and raw materials, when acting as Water Spider for the cell. Sets up, adjusts, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Monitors the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of materials. Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc and gas metal arc welding. Ignites torches or starts power supplies and strikes arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits. Coordinates production startups, shut downs and changeovers Communicates with planning, parts and other departments via e-mail or in person to resolve issues Tracks and enters data in MRP and Excel spreadsheets Sets up, adjusts, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Monitors the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of materials. Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc and gas metal arc welding. 2-3 years previous work experience in related field Technical welding training required At least 1 year TIG Welding / Floater experience preferred. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds required. Adaptable to various assignments throughout the day The ability to stand for long periods up to eight or more hours at a time Able to work in noisy environment. Good eyesight (eyesight correction acceptable). Be able to work overtime if required.(including weekends) Good communication skills.  Ability to adapt to any team environment
