Interprets drawings to create complex programs to produce tight-tolerance machine parts using CAD/CAM technology for CNC machines that calculates cutting speeds and feeds in order to generate quality parts in accordance with production standards. Reviews and provides input to the engineering design and technical drawings. Monitors and verifies the accuracy of each new job’s initial set-up and final outcome, and revises programs based on ECN’s. Assists in the solution of advanced CNC operating problems and troubleshoots out of tolerance parts to help determine correct manufacturing process. Communicates with supervisor to resolve machining or quality issues.. Creates setup sheets based on tooling needed for each part. Develops/delivers operational and software skilled training to peers, skilled workers and technical school trainees. May perform other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
High School or equivalent Technical degree preferred Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment, and basic knowledge of CNC Programming. Working knowledge of the use of computer software to include, but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Esprit or similar programming software. Advanced knowledge of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calibers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators and tape measures. Advanced knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions. Working knowledge of various tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and inserts used on various machines.
